    sevie : Welcome to our live chat JazClarke! I think you ought to avoid going out while on the attack phase but if you must: You should skip the entree and go straight to the main dish. Order something that is Dukan friendly like grilled chicken or fish; should the salad come along with that, leave it aside. For dessert if you cannot find a yogurt or a desert that fits into the Dukan guidelines, go for a coffee. I hope you have a great weekend!
    beccawoodley : Is it normal that even though I follow the diet ridgely that you start to stagnating and how long does this usually last for?
    sevie : Hi Beccawoodley, and welcome to our live chat! I?m sorry to hear you are stagnating. Have you been feeling constipated lately? Constipation can really mask your weight loss and have you stagnate until it is taken care of. Let me know if that is the case or not. Have a great day!
    beccawoodley : no it isn't the case i also drink 3 litres of water and i am just worried about losing motivation
    sevie : Hi again Beccawoodley, you should actually drink between 1.5-2l of liquids per day. Do you think you may be retaining water? Do not let this get you down, we shall come up with a solution.
    tippyk : It is very hard to find equivalent lactose free fromage frais or skimmed milk. Also soya milk does not behave in cooking as it curdles easily and sends baking 'flat'. the soya desserts all have lots of sugar. What should I try instead? I can tolerate goats milk but again no products are around as equivalent. I do not live in a major city so specialist products are not around.
    sevie : Welcome to our live chat tippyk! You could try making your own yogurts by using a yoghurt maker. You can also have up to 700g of low fat soya milk per day. Modify your deserts so that they remain Dukan friendly.
    tippyk : Hi - where can I find equivalent soya for fromage frais?
    sevie : Hello again tippyk , I?m not sure there are any substitutes for a soya version of fromage frais. You can replace most of the recipes that use fromage frais with soya yoghurts.
    tippyk : Are you not supposed to eat salad - even just leaves?
    sevie : Hi tippyk , starting in the cruise phase, you can eat salad, even the leaves on your PV days in an unlimited amount. Vegetables are not allowed in the attack phase.
    Jaz : Hi thanks for your advise, sorry I should have been clearer. I meant for next week when I start 2nd phase?.
    sevie : Hi Jaz , that actually gives you more choices. If you are having a PP day, change it to a PV one exceptionally; you can then have vegetables for an entrée like a salad but you most likely will have to exchange the dessert for a coffee; unless you find something that is Dukan friendly.
    Jaz : Hi another question! Can we have sugar free sweets on 2nd phase?
    sevie : Jaz , Yes you can; you are allowed to have up to 5 pieces of sugar free sweets per day.
    Jaz : Hi, Sorry I meant eating out in the 2nd phase, is Chinese best option?
    sevie : Jaz , yes, Chinese is a great choice if you are going out. Do not forget to avoid anything and everything that could have a sauce on it or oil.
    magasha : HI,hope you are ok.If I have my oat bran in the morning as a porrige can I have a pack of 3 dukan biscuits in the same day ? What about corn meal ? Thank you
    sevie : Welcome to our live chat Magasha! Yes, you can have your oatbran and your biscuits that count as your 2 tolerated items. If you mean quorn, then you are allowed to have it in an unlimited amount on both PP and PV days. Corn is not allowed in the cruise phase.
    magasha : Hi,I just made myself a shirataky noodles with some mince beef .I put the onions with half a spoon of oil and spices,mushrooms and 1 spoon of tomato paste.It was so delicios that I wonder if I done everything Dukan friendly.Is it ok to do it again?
    sevie : Magasha, sounds fine just double check the ingredients of the tomato paste as they sometimes can contain sugar. Make sure that the ?spoon? was a teaspoon; other than that, this is fine on your PV days. I am glad you enjoyed it.
    rustybucket : I'm doing really well on the diet only on Day 5 but highly motivated. I m flying to New York for 4 days with my sister, she is a real foodie and so am I usually. She has lots of restaurants booked, drinks with people organised. How do I stick with the program through all of that. Thanks !
    bettina : Hi rustybucket and welcome to the chat! I hope you will enjoy your time in New York. High protein diets have been popular in the states for a long time so you shouldn't have a problem ordering Dukan friendly meals when eating out. Do avoid bread and all starches and order grilled meat/fish/seafood when eating out. Remember to take enough oat bran with you. Have a nice weekend!
    magasha : Can I have cappuccino with skimmed milk? And is it ok to have dessert after lunch and after dinner?
    sevie : Hi magasha. Make sure the ingredients in that cappuccino are Dukan friendly so it should not contain any sugar, and if so, it?s fine. As long as you are having allowed foods, you can have as many desserts as you want; unless the ingredients contain tolerated foods of course, then you would have to limit yourself a bit.
    magasha : HI, so many questions from me I am constipated for days now, what can I do ? any advice ? I did boil some rhubarb...how do I eat it ? Thank you.
    sevie : Hi magasha. To get things moving again make sure you drink around 2 litres of fluids per day. We recommend drinking really cold, almost icy water. Increase your oat bran intake to 3 table spoons per day. You can have up to 200 grams of baked rhubarb any way you would like to help to ease your constipation. Our Dukan Diet Online Shop also sells a number of slimming aids including the Digestive Aid Fruit Squares which will help to ease constipation.
    sanjana : Hi can I have chopped onion on a PV day? If so how much?
    sevie : Welcome to our live chat Sanjana! You can have up to one normal size onion or shallot on your PV days.

    sevie : HI tasleem, not at all. The menus are merely suggestions, you can mix and match them to your liking according to your tastes. You can go ahead and cook it in the way you would like. Be sure to use only foods that are allowed and within the guidelines of the attack phase.
    sanjana : Hi Dr.Dukan. My instructions say that I am no longer compelled to exercise? How come? I either swim for one hour,non-stop every single day or work out on my cross-trainer for 1 hour . Ive been doing this since the past 20 years, and don't want to stop it. Please advise.
    bettina : Hi Sanjana and welcome to the chat! Do continue with your exercise, the daily exercise instructions simply state that you no longer have to religiously follow the given exercises. We do encourage you to exercise, as it really helps to speed up your weight loss. Keep going and have a great weekend!
    sanjana : Hi I just wanted to know if my weight loss pattern is a bit slow, as I have lost just 900 grams in a week.
    bettina : Hi sanjana, your weight loss is totally on track. Don't worry some people lose a lot of weight at the beginning and others more towards the end. I suggest you avoid all tolerated foods for a few days and try to increase your exercise. Have a nice weekend!
    sherona : Hi ! I'm new to this I have a few questions to help with my progress !! I didn't manage to have dinner last night (i was only able to squeeze in two medium-sized pots of yoghurt) but around midnight I was hungry so I had some more but I accidentally had low-fat yoghurt, not fat-free does that make a big difference?
    sevie : Hi Sherona! Remember that in this diet, the more you eat, the more you lose. Try to have at least 3 meals per day. You can have yoghurts that have up to 2% of fat just so you know. In the future try to always have Dukan friendly food within your reach. Have a great day!

    sevie : Hi Beccawoodley, if you are feeling really thirsty due to working out then you can have more than 2l of liquids per day.

    sevie : Hi Beccawoodley, in this case you do not. Follow your doctor?s advise and eat the food that is given to you. Once you are fully recovered, send us a message and fill out a report so we can see what you need to do to get back on track.
    grandmamarilyn_1 : if I buy some Dukan oatbran clusters do they have to count as 2 tolerated items or can they replace the oatbran allowance and still have 2 tolerated items?
    bettina : Hi grandmamarilyn_1 nice to see you here! Oat bran clusters do not replace oat bran. They do count as 2 tolerated items on top of your normal oat bran allowance. Have a great weekend!
    JennyDedom : i am confused, i have just started cruise phase where i now introduce green vegetables, however the recipes for the day and my fridge include carrots, peppers and mushrooms ? your help would be appreciated jenny
    sevie : Hi JennyDedom and welcome to our live chat! The fact that your menus included vegetables is actually normal. Now you have to alternate on a day to day basis between PP and PV days. Be careful however, because you do have to make sure the items in fridge represent the list of 100 allowed food. You have to make sure they are ok for you to have while in the cruise phase.

    sevie : Hi JennyDedom! A sugar free sweet can be like sugar free gum or sugar free jelly. Have a great day!

    sevie : Hi Jaz! yes, take a look at your recipe book, you have plenty of recipes for Dukan friendly desserts.
    sherona : oh ok thank you ! also I find that I have entered a phase of repetition and stagnation I am in the 5th week of the cruise phase at the moment and I have lost around 7kg so far but I wanted to do PP for 2/3 days to break the stagnation period
    sevie : Hi Sherona, You're welcome! I'm sorry to hear of your stagnation. You have to have the same amount of PP days as you have of PV days but we can have your alternation go to 3/3 if you'd like. Please confirm this via your slimming apartment.
    fatmasharif : Good afternoon. I have two questions: 1) When on the consolidation phase would it be possible not simply to consolidate the weight one arrives at but also to lose some more even if not much? Because I really would like to do that. I am sure there must be a way. 2) I would like to know about the nutritional value of rye, and if rye bread is less fattening than other bread. Here I am taking in general and also during the consolidation phase when bread is allowed even though in small proportion. Thank you.
    bettina : Good afternoon fatmasharif and welcome to the chat! To answer your questions, you should not aim to lose any more weight during the consolidation phase. If you were to lose more weight during the consolidation phase you are unlikely to maintain it afterwards. I suggest you consolidate your true weight before trying to lose extra weight. The nutritional value of rye bread really depends on the ingredients and composition. Dr. Dukan recommends 2 slices of whole meal bread during the consolidation phase. Have a wonderful weekend!
